Companion

Companions provide companionship, monitoring, and home management services to individuals needing socialization or minimal guidance to ensure a safe and comfortable home environment.  They attend to the employer’s personal needs, and help complete business or social transactions.

Companions provide assistance in all aspects of the employer’s life.  They read aloud, play cards, or attend recreational outings with their employer.  Companions accompany their employer on all types of errands, including bank trips, doctor’s visits, and grocery runs.  They may help in planning and preparing meals or other shopping, and do light housekeeping.  They also assist with phone calls and correspondence.

Companions are required to have a high school degree or its equivalent, though a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.  Previous knowledge or experience in the areas of human development and interpersonal relationships, household management, nutrition, or related areas is highly preferred.
