Auraria Campus, a 150-acre educational facility on the perimeter of downtown Denver, is home to 3 separate universities and colleges with approximately 38,000 students collectively.
Like many businesses in the corporate sector, higher education facilities are also challenged by the tight candidate market. As such, J. Kent Staffing was contacted by one of the institutions to hire two interim administrative assistants for up to 3 months while they continue their search for full-time employees.
Originally from Dallas, Genevieve has resided between the northeast and the southwest all of her adult life. She grew up immersed in the arts and theatre and, after starting college at a prestigious arts schools in Boston, she changed paths and completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin.
Her professional experience has included nonprofit program management, administrative supervisory work at NYU’s Graduate School, corporate meeting planning, and office management for a virtual biotech company. Her career then segued into entrepreneurship. Genevieve transformed her home in Marfa, Texas into a guest house offering four affordable and private suites to cash-conscious travelers. She took on the management of additional guest properties and also opened an open-air artist market showcasing emerging artists and collectors during festival weekends.
After devoting the last 7 years to entrepreneurship, Genevieve has chosen beautiful Golden, Colorado as her new home base. She is applying to an online executive MBA program towards her journey of working for a mission-driven company in the education and workforce development sector. Her goal is to become a subject matter expert in upskilling, to illuminate alternative pathways to success for underserved populations.
Our client and Genevieve connected marvelously in their interview, and Genevieve started working in this interim role in early August. She has been enjoying working in a higher education environment, and her keen interpersonal skills and well-rounded professional experience have been an asset to the university’s executive office.
