The assistant controller is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Staff, ensuring that a highly productive and well-trained staff is always maintained. The Assistant Controller ensures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the financial reporting and Accounting functions while providing information and assistance to the Controller.  This individual will be responsible for internal financial reporting, assist SEC reporting, variance analysis, ensuring GAAP compliance and will report to the Corporate Controller.  Many times this will be the initial career path for Audit Seniors, Audit Managers leaving public accounting firms.  Assistant Controllers are generally lead supervisors.

Education, Experience, & Certifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required
  • MBA or CPA certification may be preferred
  • 7-10+ years progressive accounting experience; a combination of public accounting and private industry may be required
  • Some accounting supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong technical accounting and financial analysis skills
  • Highly proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and financial analysis software
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Office, MS Outlook
  • Database software knowledge may also be required
  • Specific industry experience may be preferred
  • Self- starter who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to function as a team player, strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
