Our History

1979 to Today

J. Kent Staffing was founded by J. Kent Gervasini on July 15, 1979.

J. Kent began as a direct-hire search and placement firm. A temporary division was added the following year, in 1980. It was the first direct-hire recruiting agency that positioned itself in the Denver market to provide 100% client paid fee, full-time employment opportunities for administrative and clerical candidates, with a Replacement Guarantee.

During the 1982 recession in Denver, the now ever-popular option of temp-to-hire was born. This staffing service blends the two concepts of direct hire and temporary staffing. With a difficult economy and a 10% unemployment rate, employers were reluctant to utilize direct hire. They readily welcomed this new approach, as it allowed them to Test-A-Match before making a hire.

In 2012, J. Kent Staffing expanded into government staffing with the award of a 5-year GSA Contract. In 2017 our contract was extended to 2022.

On October 18, 2017, J. Kent Gervasini, owner and sole stockholder, sold the company through a stock sale to Karen Booher. Ms. Booher began her career at J. Kent Staffing in 1994 as the Accountant, and progressed to Operations Manager before making the switch from operations into the staffing, recruiting, and sales side of the company. At the time she acquired the company, Ms. Booher was acting as the company’s Vice President & Executive Recruiter.

The transition of ownership was seamless and, in 2019, J. Kent Staffing celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Our dedicated team is committed to continuing to provide – for many decades to come — the same first-class services that J. Kent has delivered to Denver’s Employers and Job Seekers since 1979.
