After graduating from Rice University in Houston, TX with a BA in Sociology and Policy Studies, this intelligent and ambitious J. Kent Candidate started a career in Washington DC working for a nonprofit arm of the US Chamber of Commerce before heading to New York. For the next 6 years, worked for a large insurance brokerage firm, starting as an Account Executive in the private client services division before switching focus to marketing in the same division. Standardized contact for all RFP’s sales presentations, department marketing collateral, contributing to a 10% growth for the division over 2 straight years. As Senior Marketing Associate, managed a team of 10 to ensure company brand standards were upheld in all business units and in all branch offices. Collaborated with members of sales, marketing, finance, legal, and product teams to ensure RFP’s were complete, accurate, and timely, which contributed to over $9 million in new revenue for the firm. After 6 years in New York, decided to explore other cities to live in throughout the U.S. and, like many others, has landed permanently in Denver after stops in Austin and San Francisco.
