2020 CSU-Pueblo Graduate Starts Communications Coordinator Job in Denver

Joshua

Communications Coordinator

Joshua grew up in Rocky Ford, Colorado – a small town east of Pueblo well known for agriculture and producing some of the state’s best melons! He was raised with a strong work ethic and got his start in journalism during high school working for the local newspaper.

He recently graduated from Colorado State University in Pueblo with a dual degree: a BS in Mass Communication, and a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Business Management and Marketing.

Throughout college, Joshua worked as a part-time Administrative Assistant in CSU’s School of Nursing. During the summers, he gained valuable communications, public relations, and marketing experience through four different internships, including one which took him to the Washington, D.C. area in the summer of 2019. This was an extraordinary experience and an invaluable opportunity for Joshua to intern with one of the largest engineering, construction, and project management companies in the United States, headquartered in Reston, VA.

With college graduation approaching, Joshua started formulating plans to move to Denver. Of course, in the midst of the COVID crisis, it’s not easy to find a new job. Interviewing opportunities were scarce, but he connected with J. Kent Staffing who was recruiting for a temporary (potential temp-to-hire) Communications Coordinator role with a Denver nonprofit organization.

After 3 interviews and several writing exercises, Joshua was selected for the temporary assignment which he started on July 13, 2020, just one week after moving to Denver. Joshua will continue to explore Denver career opportunities in marketing, communications, and PR – all while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in his chosen field.

Welcome to Denver, Joshua!
