Real Estate Investment Firm Hires A/P Specialist Relocating to Denver

Colin

Accounts Payable Specialist - IT Department

Good news for those wanting to move to Colorado – – it used to be more difficult to find a Denver job if you lived out-of-state than it is today. In a tight candidate market as we are once again experiencing, smart Colorado employers are more readily opening their candidate pool to those who do not currently live here.

J. Kent’s client is a privately held real estate investment advisory and private equity fund with headquarters in Denver. Their international portfolio consists of hotels, offices, retail, residential, and industrial properties. The Accounts Payable Specialist was a newly created position in the company’s IT department supporting hundreds of employees in multiple offices. Primary responsibilities would include tracking IT budgets, managing software/hardware maintenance renewals, reconciling vendor payments, tracking inventory of hardware and cell phones issued to employees, and terminating/creating new contracts.

Colin’s Journey from New Jersey to Colorado

Colin grew up, went to college, and started his finance career in New Jersey. In 2019 he earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and went to work for an international relocation company. As an Expense Analyst, his position was focused on accounts payable – auditing, approving, and paying employee relocation expenses in accordance with each specific client contract.

At the start of the Covid pandemic, Colin was laid off. Over the next year, he did temporary work while formulating and finalizing plans to move to Colorado. He embarked on his Denver job search from New Jersey and was committed to securing a solid job offer before making his move.

Colin connected with J. Kent Staffing and was quickly introduced to our client. After a phone interview with HR, and then an in-depth video interview with the hiring manager, Colin was offered the position. He had several irons in the fire in his Denver job search, but this Denver employer and position was by far the most appealing to him.

Colin started his new position in early April and has really enjoyed getting to know Denver with Covid-based restrictions starting to loosen up. His many hobbies have kept him busy, including playing guitar and bass, gaming, and board games. And now that Spring has arrived, he’s been enjoying longboarding outside in beautiful Colorado!

Congratulations on your new job and welcome to Colorado, Colin!
