Returning Denverite Signs Up for Temporary Work While Looking for a Permanent Job

Shelley

Temporary Accounting Assistant

One of J. Kent Staffing’s newest clients provides trucking services to companies throughout the Rocky Mountain region. They contacted J. Kent Staffing after their Accounting Assistant resigned, needing an interim temp to do weekly invoicing and other accounting support. Their Controller was about to leave on vacation, and they needed someone they could rely on during her absence.

Although previous billing experience was a strong plus, they were willing to train a quick learner with strong attention to detail (and a good notetaker!).

Meet Shelley – Temping While Seeking Full-Time Employment

Shelley recently registered with J. Kent Staffing to earn some money while she embarked on her Denver job search. She is from Chicago but had fondly remembered a couple of years in the past when she had lived in Colorado and made the decision to return.

Although her previous work experience is in marketing and administration – mostly for nonprofit associations – Shelley had been exposed to billing in a previous temporary role and was interested in making a 3-week (possibly longer) commitment to this Accounting Assistant assignment.

Our client trained Shelley over the course of two days, and Shelley was able to keep things flowing while their Controller was on vacation. Shelley has been doing an excellent job and has already accepted an assignment extension, with more possibly to come.

On the personal side of things, Shelley loves to travel with friends and family. Some of her favorite places have been Ljubljana, Slovenia, Glacier National Park in Montana, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Although no longer in Chicago, her “happy place” is still Wrigley Field (go Cubs!), and she enjoys playing Euchre – a popular Midwest card game. Since moving back to Colorado, she started her own “Sunday Funday” where she tries a new activity or explores a new area of the state. Some of her escapades have included Rescue Puppy Yoga, attending shows at DCPA, touring the Coors Factory/Brewery, and lots of hiking!
